You might one day find blood in dog urine as you come home. Don’t worry and calm down. Dogs can be prone to urinary tract infections, and this is absolutely treatable if you act on it at once.
Here is a home remedy for dog urine infection from Canine Journal.
There is a lot of dog UTI home treatment options. These are to help your dog feel more comfortable (because UTI is quite painful) and help them recover. It is important, however, to check with your vet before administering a treatment.
- Add one teaspoon (for small dogs) or 1-2 tablespoons (for big dogs) of apple cider vinegar to your dog’s water bowl. Repeat this up to two times per day for up to seven to ten days, depending on how severe the UTI is. Try having a second bowl of water without the apple cider vinegar, in case your dog doesn’t like the taste.
- Have your dog soak in a hot bath for ten minutes to help relieve the muscles. Make sure that the water is not too hot and the level is not too deep. Wash him with mild soap and pay attention to the genital area. Be careful that you don’t leave the soap in the area for too long and be sure to rinse it properly with clean, warm water.
- Encourage your dog to drink more water by placing extra bowls around the house. Change the water once or twice a day to make sure it’s fresh.
